A closeup of the pocket still in tact.Posted by Picasa

I did not finish my "old jeans into new quilt" project before the beach, so we brought it along anyway. This is how it looks after a week of use everyday in the sand and sun. I have a new supply of jeans to cut and stitch (thanks to my mom) which should result in a top about twice this size. Each square is raw cut 6 1/2" by 6 1/2" and then stitched together using quarter inch seam allowances. The patter is random as I did not want a planned look. The tan squares are my husbands old dockers which were no longer fit to wear and the denim are from the kids worn out jeans. I did fussy cut some of the pockets from the dockers so the finished quilt will have pockets in it.

We are back from our beach vacation, and have only a few more weeks until the start of school. While we were the I whipped up these cute as a button headbands for the girls. They were super easy and quick. Just perfect for keeping those wet beach bangs pulled up off their faces. Here is daughter #3 modeling hers.
