Holiday Sewing

Now that Halloween is over I am focusing on the upcoming Holiday season.  I hope to complete several projects for Christmas this year and I seem to have a plethora of family birthdays to celebrate between now and the end of the year.
Two of my favorite sewing websites are:
Sew Mama Sew found here:
One of the reasons I love this site is their annual sewing in November campaign. Each day of November they feature several links with a theme, like the first day was gifts for tweens, day two was gifts for gadget lovers.  It is so cute and I always find quick yet lovely projects just in time for the holidays.  I like this little tote but am still undecided about it.

The second webpage for sewing is Nancy Zieman.  Nancy has been around a very long time.  She has a national PBS television program dedicated to sewing but there are many projects she will showcase on her blog.  She is such a great inspiration. You can find Nancy's blog at:

Happy Halloween

So.... I have been super busy with lots of creating this month. DUH! Its Halloween.  First there is the Big project.  I made a giant Minion costume of cardboard and covered it with yellow fleece for my husband to wear to work.  I am so proud.  The cost was only $23.00 and the time was about 30 hours.  Of course Daughter #2 was a great help as she spent almost as many hours as I did.

The second big project was the gigantic Brain Cake for the Bake sale.
I also made 40 zombie brain truffles.

The last project turned out so darn cute, it's hard to believe that this was the easiest.  Took only 3 hours total and Daughter#2 bought all the materials herself.

Linking up to a few 'linky parties' this week.

Crochet cord

This is a lovely addition to my phone headphones.  I simply used a 3mm (size 11) hook and some very beautiful variegated green.  This was size 10 and I am sure I purchased it at Hobby Lobby sometime ago.   I tend to take off the labels and stash away the balls into my knitting and crochet basket.

While I do not have quite so many as this, isn't it just beautiful to look at.

Just for fun how about the hook chart to compare.  These are life-size.

Bee progress

This summer my sweetie surprised by planning a trip for the two of us to celebrate our anniversary.  We went to Legoland in Florida.  It is new in Florida, located in the old Cypress Gardens.  It was wonderful.
They have a program that allows visitors to trade mini-figs with park employees while they visit the park.  We didn't trade the first visit but a few weeks later when we took the oldest granddaughter back we traded all day.  We have had a large collection of mini-figs for a while now and many duplicates.  When we came home I decided I finally had to do something about the display.
I had this box from last Christmas from a keyboard.  It was black but with some print so when I got it together I simply painted the print black again.  It is now hanging displayed in the living room and the mini's are so much more tidy to look at.

Silly Hats

Sometimes when we go out I ask them to do very silly things just so I can take their pictures and laugh about it.

Business Card Holders

I made these for my husband for the office.  Well, really I made the red one and he liked it so much he asked for a second to put into his classroom. Two of his co-workers also asked for one but I didn't get the photos. : )
