Art In the Open

Been Knitting and Crocheting up a storm lately to participate in Art in the Open in Thomasville, GA this fall. Our team (Cortney, Cindy, and myself) have made Bambi's First Christmas and decorated our designated tree. The exhibition opens tonight and will be up 5 weeks. We are all so excited to be a part of it.

I Love Yarn Day!

When I received the notice that I Love Yarn Day was only 30 day away, I went into a small panic. I have so much to do to show support and celebration for Love of Yarn. then I realized I show support and love every day when I knit or crochet.
Loving yarn doesn't need a special day, or even a special event in my life as I already do that every time i pick up the needles or hooks to complete something special, something fun, or something useful.
My family and friends all know that i take my projects with me everywhere. I don't need a 'knit in public' day to knit in public, as every day i knit in public.
That said, I want to take the opportunity to share how much this hobby has meant to me personally over the years. I have made and given away more hand crafted yarn items that i can remember, each one created with thoughts of the intended recipient as the production was being completed.
Knitting is so rewarding to my mental health, and so satisfying to my need to give that i am sure i will continue to work with needles and hooks forever.

Updated Sewing Room

For Christmas I asked my kiddos to help me re-vamp my sewing room by removing all the furniture and 13 years of stacked up crafting, sewing, and knitting supplies so that I could come back to an empty room. I wanted to paint the room and ceiling, sand and varnish the wood floors, and rearrange the furniture.
I knew that I would have to purge many, many items and rearrange what I really wanted to keep myself as they would not know what was keep and what was toss.
When we came home from our trip to California the room was 75% empty, and then over the new years holiday the kids and I finished the emptying. Fortunately, I have a big enough house that I just stashed all the stuff into other rooms. I thought this would be a few weeks of clutter. know the story, life got in the way. we lived in clutter for months.
I finished the painting, some of the sanding, and began to think about how hard all this was, then had foot surgery, and recovered. Finally in May I was able to hobble along and begin to purge and re-stock the sewing room.
I am thrilled with the new softer blue color, love the natural light from the two windows, and have even begun to catch up on some of the mending that has been on hold for these past months.
I still do not have closet doors but am considering just going without them for good. I have a small bookcase in the closet and like the easy access.
Here are few photos.

Crocheted Purse

I made this cotton Purse for Daughter #1 over the Christmas trip out west but did not sew a lining into it until a few weeks ago. My sewing room was dismantled and only reorganized a month ago. That is another post. Here are a few pics of the finished project.

Easter Bunnies!

What happens when your kids are really too old for Easter Baskets but you still want to crochet adorable Easter bunnies for all of them.

Teen Driver

My youngest has finally taken his learners exam and is now a 'permitted' driver. Here in Georgia the permit must be held for one year and one day, so he will be 17 when he officially becomes a licensed driver.

I have a bit of hesitation about the last one to leave home, last one to drive, last one to graduate, and so forth but am quite pleased he is now able to move towards that driving independence!

Fun and Funny Hats

For Christmas and Thanksgiving I have made each of the kids fun hats over the years. This year daughter #3 brought her boyfriend and he needed a funny hat. He was the turkey. : ) He accepted it all in stride and was a great sport.

Something New!

For Christmas Santa whispered that he wondered if I might like one of these:
We looked and I decided to wait just a bit and do some research before jumping off into a new craft adventure.    So.... He ordered one and put it together this weekend. Isn't It Beautiful!!!
